An American film producer and film distributor have been told they must remove protective film cover on film produced during the 2016 Rio del Norte flood.
Filmmaker and film producer Andrew J. Stavroula told the BBC that he and his partner, Mark Rylance, had asked the state of Florida to remove the film cover from their films.
“I had to get a permit from the film regulator to go out and get a protective film covering and I was hoping to have it done by the end of the year,” he said.
“They said that was a process that would take three months.
I got in touch with them and they said that they would be doing it within the next month.”
We were very upset because I was expecting the film to be finished by March, and we had spent a lot of time working on the film.
“It’s not the kind of thing that you can do in your own back yard, so we decided to go in and get the film and get it finished by the start of the New Year.”
Mr Stavromes film producer, who also produced the documentary series “Inevitable”, said the film would now have to be destroyed.
“The film is so fragile that we would have to destroy it,” he told the news channel.
“Our company has a very, very large fleet of film tanks, and it’s very expensive to transport the film around the world.”
That film will have to go.
“Mr Jstavoulas film distributor, Mark J. Rylances company, said it was investigating the claims.”
These allegations are without merit and we will vigorously defend ourselves,” it said in a statement.”
As a producer of films and content, we rely on the highest level of integrity and safety and our safety record is of utmost importance to us.
“All film content is checked and certified by a third party prior to production.
We are very careful to ensure that all our film is safely and securely packaged and transported to the studio, and if there are any concerns about any packaging or safety, we will investigate the matter.””
The American film industry is a global leader in the production and distribution of films.
We have a long-standing commitment to providing the best protection to our films, which includes film production equipment and protective film for the production of our films,” it added.
