“It was about how much time we’ve spent together.
And we’re like, ‘What do you want us to do?’
So we said, ‘We’ll just shoot some of these,’ ” the director, Aaron Guzikowski, tells THR.
“And we shot some of the scenes and then we came back and had to edit those and edit some of our other scenes.”
The studio was already familiar with the film’s story, but Guzikowsky was particularly eager to bring in an original score, especially since he was a fan of David Lynch’s music.
The director says he wanted to bring something more modern and modern-sounding, and that he wanted his characters to be like people he knew from the ’80s and ’90s.
The new film will take place in 2019, but the series begins with a young girl named Sarah who’s living in the shadow of her mother, who was also murdered by the man she’s about to marry.
“I was in awe,” Guzikowksi says of his experience working with Lynch.
“David is a great storyteller, and he really wanted to tell his own story.”
The filmmaker is confident that the story will carry the same spirit of wonder and innocence that Lynch brought to the original “Twin Peaks.”
“It’s about the relationship between the protagonist and the main character and the idea of love,” Guzzikowski says.
“It takes place in the future and the future is very different than it was in the past.”
The director will not say if there will be any flashbacks in the film.
He does say that it will be a different tone than the previous movie.
“There’s going to be a lot of fun,” Guakowsky says.
“It’s not a remake of the original ‘Twin Peak,’ it’s an entirely new story.
It’s a story about the relationships between people, and I think we’ve found the right tone and we’ve gotten that right.”
He also says that the film will have an all-star cast that includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kate Beckinsale, David Hyde Pierce, and Emily Mortimer.
The cast also includes Kevin Spacey as FBI agent Dale Cooper, and Aaron Paul as FBI lawyer James Dale.
The film will star Josh Holloway, Adam Driver, and Kevin Kline as well as newcomer and fellow FBI agent Jody Lee Miller.
Guzikowskis credits the actors for helping to make the story feel “really original and real.”
He adds, “It feels like a new beginning to a story that’s very familiar to fans of the show.”
“I really think that it’s a very special experience,” he adds.
“The characters have been changed and they have changed.
I think it will capture people’s imaginations for a very long time to come.”
