By Andrew BurnsideUpdated May 21, 2018 09:00:33A few years ago, the technology behind LG’s SolarEdge toilet was a bit like this: it would use solar power to turn water into a steam bath.
The new LG SolarEdge product, which is due to launch in the UK this summer, uses a different kind of solar power.
The company says the new product is designed to reduce the amount of water needed to operate the toilet, which would then be stored in a metal tank, and it’s designed to be rechargeable.
The toilet itself is made of aluminum and is meant to last up to 50 years.LG’s Solar Edge toilet will reportedly cost around £2,000 ($2,500), with its price tag dropping to around £1,200 ($1,500) when it launches in the US later this year.
This is a far cry from the $3,500 price point that was previously set for the toilet back in 2016.
But LG’s new toilet is actually quite cheap compared to its rivals’ designs, so we’re looking forward to seeing how this one does in the real world.
In the meantime, LG’s product may not be quite as revolutionary as some of its rivals, but it’s still one of the most innovative toilet products on the market right now.
