Capcom has announced that Pokemon: The Movie: The Game, which is the first in a planned trilogy, will launch in Japan in December.
The first game in the trilogy will cost 4,200 yen ($30) and the final game, which will be released later this year, will cost 6,800 yen ($35).
A trailer showed off some of the gameplay elements from Pokemon: Movie, including the ability to capture Pokemon in Pokemon Stadium and capture Pokemon from the local gym, and the ability for Pokemon to evolve to a level 5 version of the game, where it can level up to level 20.
The Pokemon movie will be the first game to launch on the Wii U in the West since Pokemon Red and Blue, and Nintendo has said that it will be able to ship the game to retailers and download codes to be sold to gamers around the world.
In addition to the new Pokemon movie, the game will also include a new “Mega” mode that allows players to battle other players in local battles using a special combination of moves, which includes a Mega Punch that can cause the target to be knocked down, and Mega Kick, a move that knocks players back into the air and leaves them helpless.
Pokemon: the Movie: the Game will release for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on December 16.
